Sewing Machine
The Makerspace has a Singer 4423 Heavy Duty machine that is free for all members of MacEwan to use. Our staff can help with sewing machine basics to get you started on your project.

Material
The Makerspace has thread and a selection of donated fabrics that you can use for sewing projects. You're also welcome to bring your own material to use with the sewing machine. The following materials can be used with the Singer 4423:
- Thin cotton, voile, silk, muslin, interlocks, cotton knits, tricots, jerseys, crepes, woven polyester, shirt & blouse fabrics, satin, kettle cloth, sailcloth, double knits, lightweight woolens, cotton duck, woolen, heavier knits, terrycloth, denim, canvas, woolens, outdoor tent and quilted fabrics, denim, upholstery material (light to medium), Heavy woolen, overcoat fabrics, upholstery fabrics, some leathers and vinyl

Heatpress
The Makerspace has a Cricut Easypress 2, which can be used to press heat-transfer vinyl onto clothing, bags, blankets, and more. The Makerspace will provide users with various colors of heat transfer vinyl, which can be cut into a design of the user's choosing using the Makerspace vinyl cutter. The user is responsible for providing the clothing or other material. The Easypress will work with a variety of materials, but works best with fabrics that have a high percentage of cotton.
The Makerspace is not responsible for any damage that occurs to material provided by the user.
Button Maker
- The Makerspace has two Tecre #225 button makers, which can be used to create custom 2.25 inch buttons. The Makerspace will provide materials for users to make up to 25 buttons for an individual, or 50 buttons for a MacEwan class.
- Users can borrow a button maker and materials for 25/50 buttons from the library services desk for 3 days at a time. This button maker cannot be placed on hold and is first come first served. The other button maker can be used in the Makerspace at any time.
